  • Warne Marsh (1927–1987), legendary tenor saxophonist, band leader and occasional performing colleague of Lennie Tristano, Lee Konitz and Charlie Parker.  He was (and in spirit, still is) my primary jazz mentor and teacher.  I was his student from 1972 until his death in 1987.
